On Friday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m., the world of thunder will pay tribute to Ángel Roca, trovero, historian of the thunder, poet and author, among others, the hymn to Cartagena.
The event will be held in the cultural center Ramón Alonso Luzzy with the performance of repentistas and cuadrillas, and will count among others with the assistance of the deputy mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, and the councilor of the Office and the Transparency Portal, María José Soler.
The trofé association José María Marín is the organizer of this event, with which the Cartagena City Council collaborates, recognizing the great work of this Cartagena artist who links the generation of the legendary Marín, with which will arise in the 40's of last century XX.
Ballesta, Cantares and Picardías, next to a young Rock, return to reconstruct the tradition of improvised versification and possibly without its competition the thunder would have been forgotten forever.
His first evening will be celebrated in the town of La Mina, on January 31, 1946, in which Pedro Cantares, Picardías and Ángel Roca, Child of the Locality took part.
Since then will make a titanic effort for the owners of theaters and cinemas in the region to schedule thunderstorms, touring villages and neighborhoods with their bicycle to distribute the propaganda of the performances.
To these tasks of less brilliance must be added the edition of booklets that transcribed some troveros meetings maintained with their rivals of stage and his priceless work as historian of the thunder.
First, as it could not be otherwise, a biography of Marín and later, the History of Trovo (three editions), a great collection of verses rescued from oblivion, kept by copyists of evenings and the author's own research.
This last book constitutes in itself a particular Parnassus, with the meeting of the heroes of a singular regional mythology.
Other well-known publications are Embassy of the Joy and Song to the Union.
It comes to add nine publications.
As trovero Roca linked with another generation later, which included Rabbit II, El Lotero, El Cabista, El Repuntín, El Santapolero or aguverños troveros.
Shortly after, they would add El Palmesano, Roca II, El Patiñero or Baranda.
In 1992, the trade association José María Marín was formed, with Ángel Roca being its first president.
Since then they have done a great job of diffusing the thunder with the organization of evenings;
Dissemination of thunder in schools and institutes in the region, through a collaboration agreement with the Regional Assembly;
Participation in national and international festivals that take place in countries of the American continent, and the organization of Trovalia in Cartagena, world meeting of improvised poetry.
Ángel Roca has also cultivated poetry publishing different texts and winning Floral Games in Toledo, Cartagena, San Pedro del Pinatar or La Palma.
He is the author of the lyrics of the Hymn to Cartagena and the March Hymn to the Submarinist of Spain.
The well-deserved tribute of Friday in the Cultural Center, will be open to the public, with free entrance until full capacity.
