The Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, was responsible for making the drawing of honor this Tuesday, February 21, of the IX Petanca Championship, organized by the Federation of Associations and Centers of Older People of Cartagena, with the collaboration Of the Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena.
The championship will start this Thursday, February 23, and will be held every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the various boules in Cartagena and surroundings, until next May 9.
The participating groups will play a one-leg and one-leg return for a total of 18 matches.
Specifically, there are two groups of Barrio Peral, two others of San Ginés, two more of Molinos Marfagones, one of Barrio de la Concepción, another of La Unión and Vista Alegre, which also participates with a group.
The games will be played to the best of 2 games, winning the team that previously get 13 points in each.
Thus, Castejón stressed "the vitality and the desire to enjoy that our elders demonstrate with each of the activities they perform and that during this championship are even more evident."
During the ceremony, which was held in the boules of the neighborhood José María Lapuerta, the deputy mayor was accompanied by the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín, and the president of the Federation of Elders of Cartagena, Maria Beteta.
