The 1st Dragon Boat Trophy 'City of Cartagena', was held last Saturday, February 18 in waters of the port of the city.
The UCAM-Pinatar team won the victory, both in the Men's and Mixed categories.
Throughout the morning, the North Pier was crowded with fans and onlookers, who enjoyed the spectacular and fast races of the participating teams, who competed in a course of 200 meters.
More than 100 palistas grouped in a fortnight of teams of the region, competed in the diverse categories with optimal meteorological conditions, in a ludic and sporting atmosphere.
After the competition, prizes were held at RCR Cartagena, with the assistance of Cartagena City Councilor Ricardo Segado, who insisted on the commitment of the municipal government to water sports, incorporating the promotion of canoeing and Rowing in our city.
José García-Bravo, president of RCRC, expressed his determination to bet on such new modalities as the dragon boat, which has so much acceptance among the public and athletes, understanding that it is a resource that adds vitality to the port area and, In short, our city.
The excellent sports and citizenship result of this first edition of the Dragon Boat Trophy 'Ciudad de Cartagena', organized by RCR Cartagena with the sponsorship of the Cartagena City Council and SAES (SA de Electrónica Submarina), and with the collaboration of Estrella de Levante, provides an excellent future for this type of activities in which sports, tourism and social demand for activities are mixed.
