Puerto de Culturas will simultaneously tender Phases III and IV of the project to recover the Barrio del Foro Romano (16/02/2017)

Phases III and IV of recovery of the Barrio del Foro Romano can be carried out simultaneously, as notified today by the Governing Board of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas.

These works will cost 2,634,575 euros, a budget that will be available soon thanks to the collaboration agreement with Repsol.

"This is great news for everyone, because the Roman Forum District is called to become our flagship, next to the Roman Theater. We will soon inaugurate the second phase of the works, which has allowed us to discover the magnificent Temple of Isis," Said the deputy mayor and president of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, Ana Belén Castejón.

Throughout the year 2016, the Project for Integral Adaptation of Recovery, Conservation and Valorization of Sector II, corresponding to the Sanctuary dedicated to eastern divinities, has been executed, which will soon allow the official opening to the public of this new museum area Of almost 800 square meters, which completes and enriches the research and visits to the Barrio del Foro Romano.

The project was put out to tender for an amount of 417,990.14 euros and was awarded for 334,531.97 euros, representing a saving of 19.96%, specifically of 83,458.17 euros.

In addition, without increasing the cost, the improvements of lighting, which were a commitment of the company and costing 22,442.86 euros, have been able to carry out, which increases the saving of the project to 105,901.03 euros, or what it is The same 25.33%.

BUDGET INCREASE

In the Board of Government that was held this Thursday morning has also approved the budget of the consortium for this year, amounting to 1,300,914 euros, which is an increase of 233,217 euros compared to last year.

Likewise, labor improvements are going to be undertaken that will mean for the workers of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas the imminent approval of their collective agreement, which for the first time after fifteen years has been agreed between workers and company.

"It was necessary to improve the labor situation of the workers of Puerto de Culturas and throughout 2016 we took the first steps that will conclude this year with the signing of the collective agreement," said Ana Belén Castejón.

NEW PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGNS

Cartagena Puerto de Culturas will launch new promotional campaigns with the aim of reaching new markets that are not very exploited by our municipality at an international level, such as Nordic, Russian and Portuguese.

Promotion will also be intensified in neighboring regions, such as the Valencian Community, Castilla La Mancha and Andalusia, and will seek more presence in Catalonia, as well as consolidate performances in Madrid.

Likewise, a round of contacts with municipalities of the Region will be initiated so that, as with Torrevieja, collaboration mechanisms can be established to increase the number of visitors to the municipality.

AUDIOGUÍAS IN THE CASTLE OF THE CONCEPCION AND IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF THE ROMAN FORUM

Among the improvements that have been carried out in 2016 in the different deposits of Puerto de Culturas stands out the signing of the agreement with the Chaykaspanis emrpesa to introduce its audioguide service in the Castillo de la Concepción and in the Barrio del Foro Romano.

This service will begin to operate throughout this year, since during 2016 all the historical information necessary for the production of audio guides was provided.

Also during 2016 has been labeled the Boat of the Tourist Boat to improve its identification with four vinyls in Spanish and English.

Likewise, the access to the Barrio del Foro Romano has been improved and a new video of the Fort of Christmas has been edited to improve the museum of the fortress of the 19th century.

This last work has been carried out in collaboration with the Integra Foundation.

Among the innovations that will be launched this year we must also highlight the launch of new routes guided by emblematic buildings of the city, such as the headquarters of the Schools of Industrial, Telecommunications and Enterprise Sciences, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, or the Aguirre Palace.

Collaboration agreements with the UPCT and the regional government are well advanced.

NUMBER OF VISITORS AND ACTURATION

During 2016, Puerto de Culturas received 432,523 visitors and invoiced 1,957,930 euros, which represents a 13% increase in turnover and a 16% increase in the number of visitors compared to 2015. The best month for The centers of Puerto de Culturas has been in August, as it is when more visitors visited its interpretation centers (70,757), while the weakest month was January, with 11,112 visitors.

On the other hand, the number of visits to the website of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas has increased by 37%, reaching 1,121,628 visits, compared to 814,227 in 2015. The growth in visits to the mobile version has been even greater , Of 93%, with 113,464.
