The mayor of Social Services, Carmen Martín, explained that "both the National Plan that we have presented and the proposal to create these local groups has a social objective.
Its mission is aimed at detecting foci that can generate violent attitudes and violent behavior in different groups of the citizenry, intervene for its control and eradication and thus achieve the normalization of coexistence.
It is worth remembering the importance of the Cartagena municipality in this matter, which has been a pioneer in many actions aimed at improving citizens' coexistence from peace and participatory democracy, such as the management of intercultural diversity, the Antirrumores Strategy, membership in the Network European and Spanish Intercultural Cities, work on religious pluralism or community intervention programs.
Finally, the CITCO delegation has offered to the Councilor for Social Services the possibility of developing training actions in this area, promoted by this body and addressed to the City Council staff.
They also make available to the local government their advisory service to improve actions aimed at fostering coexistence, avoiding radicalization and violent behavior.
This new strategy of cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior will contribute to reinforce social policies in the municipality of Cartagena.
