The Municipal Archaeological Museum will bring to the public that will visit the next February 14, Valentine's Day, several pieces of love theme that are part of the permanent collection.
The activity is part of the initiative 'Enamórate del museo', which this morning have presented the councilman of Archaeological Heritage, Ricardo Segado, and the Director General of Historical and Archaeological Heritage, María del Carmen Berrocal.
A proposal that seeks to "celebrate another type of love, in addition to the romantic: love for the historic and archaeological heritage that we must have citizens, and especially those of Cartagena," said the councilman.
With this objective in mind, several pieces of the permanent exhibition will be explained, among which a light show with explicit sexual representations, in reference to the sexual love, and a gravestone in which a marriage is represented, to make reference to the love in its Eternal dimension
With this activity we mean that, like many of the traditions we have today, Valentine is a tradition that has its origin in a festival of ancient Rome, the Lupercales.
It is a Roman holiday for the preparation for the fertility season: spring.
In it, the lupercos, two young people anointed with the blood of the sacrifices, ran frantically around the Palatine mount.
On their way, they whipped and whipped with their februa to all that they found in their step, especially to the women so that they were more fertile.
"A rite so outstanding, that gave rise to the name of the month of February, which probably comes from the name that received the strips of skin with which the lupercos whipped the people, februa," said the director general of Historical and Archaeological Heritage .
Visits will be at 12:00 and 13:00, and in the afternoon every hour from 17:00 to 20:00, on February 14.
The seats can be booked in the same box office of the museum or on the phone 968 12 89 67. It will also be the penultimate day to visit the exhibition 'Cueva Victoria: out of Africa'.
