The School of Agronomists of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) receives in its laboratories from this Monday to Thursday, 240 students of 2nd year of Baccalaureate in a new edition of the Biotechnological Routes.
Fermentations and brewing, gel encapsulation for artificial seeds and melon caviar, transgenic plants, 3D modeling or industrial waste are some of the practices that students will perform during this week.
There are three basic modules, Biology, Earth Sciences and Industrial Technologies, with three different practices in each of them.
"The initiative has been very high, having been requested by more than 40 secondary schools in the region," says Encarna Conesa, deputy director of institutional relations at the School of Agronomists.
"These practices are aimed at high school students so they can visit the facilities of our Center and complement their educational curriculum in our laboratories, in the hands of university professors with a high qualification of research within the fields treated," he adds.
The Biotechnological Routes are carried out with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology - Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and are promoted by the Higher Technical School of Agronomic Engineering and supported by the General Direction of Planning and Educational Ordering of the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment.
