The Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena has organized a series of conferences to bring the history of Cartagena as well as the relationship of the city with flamenco in the first quarter of 2017, which are part of the program for older people and people with disability.
In this sense, the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín del Amor, said that these talks "are being a success since they began on 20 and 28 January," while pointing out that these are two distinct cycles.
On the one hand, on Tuesday, 'Cartagena, its flamenco, its artists and festivals' have been organized and on Thursdays, 'A walk through the history of Cartagena: its customs and traditions'.
These courses are being taught in the Milagrosa building in the morning from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., where the journalist and copla expert, Benito Martínez, makes a tour of the most outstanding flamenco artists of our city and region, as well as the Most important festivals such as 'La cante de las minas' from La Unión and 'Lo Ferro'.
On the other hand, the cycle 'A walk through the history of Cartagena: its customs and traditions' is run by Mercedes Marín and aims to "spread the traditions of our land so they can be preserved and not forgotten." Declared Carmen Martin.
