Researchers at the UPCT presented yesterday at Fruit Logistica Berlin a prototype for the real-time recording of the factors that affect the quality of perishable foods during transportation
The teachers of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT) Francisco Artés Hernández and Roque Torres, from the Agronomists and Industrial schools, are currently at the Fruit Logistica fair in Berlin to participate as speakers in a talk in which they will present a prototype Which are being developed to measure and send in real time the main environmental conditions during transport of fruits and vegetables (temperature, humidity, concentration of the atmosphere, vibration, luminosity ...).
This information in real time provides the customer with the knowledge of how to make the transport of their merchandise, as well as communicate valuable information for decision making.
International post-collection training from the UPCT
On the other hand, the first edition of the international course of online training in post-collection technologies and minimum processing 'International on-line Course on Postharvest & Fresh-cut Technologies', own title of the UPCT of 25 h, The UPCT with the participation of 41 professors from 20 countries of the 5 continents.
"It is a unique course in the world due to its on-line format, diversity and prestige of the faculty," says Francisco Artés Hernández, director of the course and GPR Research Group of the Polytechnic, awarded during the last celebration of St. Thomas Aquinas .
A total of 24 participants from ten countries were selected: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Mauritius.
The technologies that have been studied in the course are the ones that allow to preserve for the longest possible time the quality and safety of whole or processed fruits and vegetables in the "fourth range" ready to be consumed.
The 41 lecturers of the course recorded in person their presentations in video in the polymedia room of the Center of Production of Digital Content (CPCD) of the Polytechnic of Cartagena.
The firms Tecnidex SAU, Sakata Seed Ibérica SLU, Productos Citrosol SAU and Decco Ibérica SA have sponsored the course.
The second edition of the Course will take place next May.
