The Contemporary Foundation presented yesterday the Observatory of Culture 2017, a report that includes the ranking of the most outstanding institutions and cultural events of the year 2016 of the national panorama and by autonomous communities.
The report highlights that the first 3 positions of the classification of the Region of Murcia belong to Cartagena, with La Mar de Músicas first, followed by the Cartagena Jazz Festival, in second position and the Regional Museum of Modern Art, in the third.
La Mar de Músicas, the world music festival that is celebrated in Cartagena and is internationally recognized, has a long history since its first edition in 1995. The music festival is not performed alone, as it includes La Mar de Arte And La Mar de Letras, which bring to the city exhibitions of visual and plastic artists, as well as talks, presentations and colloquia with literary authors, from the guest country.
In addition, it also has La Mar Chica, a set of activities organized for children.

This new edition of the Observatory of Culture has had the participation of 361 members.
The Foundation, created by La Fábrica in 2008, has as its mission to contribute to the professional development of the cultural sector in Spain, for which it develops encounter, training, debate, analysis and support to entrepreneurs.
Every year, the Observatory of Culture elaborates a report that serves as an instrument to take the pulse of some issues that may be of interest to the sector at all times, creating indicators to analyze trends, promoting debate and identifying gaps and opportunities for action.
Another important fact that shows the Culture Observatory is that the Region of Murcia has doubled the quality level in its cultural programming with respect to 2015, which is a recognition of the effort made by cultural groups
