The Department of Social Services is working on the implementation of a global anti-corruption strategy, whose development is working hand in hand with various councils, social action agencies, social groups in the city and secondary education centers.
One of the fundamental lines of this strategy is to combat the stereotypes and prejudices towards the immigrant community, since they are the main barrier in the coexistence, for which they have developed several initiatives in secondary schools through the 'Network of good students' .
As indicated by the councilor Carmen Martín del Amor "this network is composed of students of recent years of ESO and Bachillerato.
They are girls of foreign origin, who want to work with their schoolmates those aspects of their culture or religion more controversial and that can lead to error to those who do not know.
The purpose of favoring the relations between students of diverse origins and nationalities ".
One of these initiatives took place on the occasion of the day of the center of the IES Jiménez de la Espada.
There, the group of good students of this institute, denominated 'Girls in Action', prepared a classroom of Arab culture in which besides their mothers participated.
In the classroom there were various workshops such as henna, bookmarks with the Arabic name and tea tasting, as well as sharing information, photographs and objects of the Arab culture, more specifically Morocco.
During this coexistence, the students gathered doubts and opinions of their colleagues about the Arab culture and, on this information, the group will work the interventions that will make in its educational center.
In this line are also working other institutes of Cartagena such as IES San Isidoro, IES El Bohío and IES Mediterranean.
