The event was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, José López, the president of CREECT, Santiago del Álamo and the great-great-granddaughter of Codorníu, Laura de la Cierva and the CEO of Ilboc, Eduardo Romero.
The idea of ​​the reprint of this book, as explained by the Alamo, came last year with the celebration of the 170th anniversary of the birth of the engineer, and the discovery that, being a person known internationally for his environmental work, there was no recognition Nor knowledge on the part of the people of cartagena of its figure.
That is why he raised the project of planting a forest with his name and erect a sculpture in his honor so that it is remembered and remembered a person so relevant, whose financing will be obtained from the income obtained by the sale of the book.
The Consistory collaborates in this project "within the objective of putting in value the rich history of our city, as well as the merits of its illustrious personages", and that is why it abandoned this project proposed a year ago by the foundation CREECT having as To do historic justice to "a great forgotten for the city and the region, Ricardo Codorníu, known in the whole world as the 'Apostle of the Tree'" explained López.
The work contains 12 fables that have as protagonists the trees and nature, written for 12 of their grandchildren, although it came to have 22. Ricardo Codorníu and Stárico (Cartagena, 1846 - Murcia, 1923) He was a Spanish engineer of centuries XIX and XX.
