After knowing the data recently published by the Murcia Health Service (SMS), which reflects that Cartagena is still above average in terms of delays suffered by patients to be attended by a medical specialist and to be operated on, The Councilor for Health of the City of Cartagena, Francisco Calderón (MC), has convened the Joint Commission on Health in order to seek a common position and consensual with the rest of political forces represented in the Consistory.
Also with representatives of other municipalities of the region of the Field of Cartagena and with the Platform in Defense of the Public Health `Save the Rosell'.
The meeting will be held next Tuesday, February 7 at 5:30 p.m. on the 1st floor of the Consistorial Palace.
In the opinion of Francisco Calderón, "the delays in external consultations seem to be particularly serious, as the published data reflect. It is not known that there are 20,000 patients more than in 2015 above the limits considered as admissible waiting."
The mayor stressed that the situation "is aggravated in the Area of Health II where we remain well above the regional average both to be operated surgically and to be attended by the specialist. We must put a stop to this because it is a clear discrimination. We can tolerate that our health is worth less than that of other citizens ".
It is expected that the conclusions of this commission will be transferred by Calderón to Area II manager, José Sedes, in order to let him know the social discontent that has been generated by these results and the lack of protection they bring to those who receive health services in the area Of its competence.
