For the third time the water tariff table has been gathered, in which the municipal technicians have exposed their work to neighbors, businessmen, political parties and unions, in order to know their opinion on a proposal of tariff structure adjusted to these works Before beginning the processing of the administrative file for its approval.
Representatives of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and Comarca Fernando Garrido, COEC, associations of Hotels and Hotels, the Manga Club, companies of the Valley of Escombreras, unions, company committee of Hidrogea and representatives of the Opposition municipal political groups such as Francisco Espejo, Manuel Padín and Pilar Marcos.
On behalf of the Government, the meeting was chaired by the Mayor, José López, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, Councilor for Security and Interior, Francisco Aznar, Councilor for the Decentralization Area, Juan Pedro Torralba, and the Finance and Contracting, Isabel García.
There was also a large group of municipal technicians, headed by the general director of Infrastructures, Manuel Nicolás, who explained in detail the procedure that will be followed for the elaboration of the new tariff after collecting the considerations of this tariff table.
It should be noted that the directors of the Hidrogea concessionaire were absent from the work table, if they had attended the previous meetings.
The proposal of a new tariff structure elaborated by the municipal technicians allows to adjust the price to the effective consumption.
Another issue has been the discrepancy in the real cost of the service, differentiating between fixed costs and variable costs, which serve as the basis for calculating fixed fees and variable fees paid by users.
The conclusions of this table will serve a more just and equitable system that would, according to municipal estimates, mean a reduction in the current price of water of 10 percent
