Ana Belén Castejón, the Vice Mayor and President of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, participated this morning in the Cultural Week that is being held at the IES San Isidoro de Los Dolores, and this year echoes the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for the Development.
Castejón has offered a speech in which he explained to the students of 1st year of Baccalaureate the important role that Cartagena Port of Culturas is playing in the tourist and economic development of the municipality, which has motivated the regeneration of the historic center of Cartagena and the sunset In value of our archaeological heritage.
The Deputy Mayor has encouraged teachers and students to visit all the sites and interpretation centers and stressed that "it is very important that students from all schools in Cartagena know both our tourism offer and the valuable historical legacy they have left In our town the different civilizations that have inhabited it ".
During the talk, in which the students have participated actively, Castejón has highlighted some of the most important historical jewels that the municipality has, such as the Barrio del Foro Romano or the Punic Wall.
"It is true that our climate attracts many tourists, but what really makes us different from other cities in southern Spain is our history and the very high degree of conservation of much of the buildings and pieces that make up our archaeological heritage, has explained.
