The businessmen confirm the suitability of the location of the ZAL in the polygon Los Camachos
The working group of the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) of Cartagena has concluded the first phase of the feasibility study of the project with the consultation of the local business community.
Salvador García-Ayllón, general director of Transport, Ports and Coasts, presided this morning in the port city the first technical meeting of the group.
During the meeting, the consultant in charge of developing the feasibility plan presented the study carried out among companies potentially interested in installing in the ZAL of Cartagena, who consider the location of this infrastructure in the Los Camachos polygon in a space with a surface Of 360 hectares and property of the State Soil Entity (SEPES).
The companies consulted expressed their needs, which will serve to determine the functional design of the project and define the phases of development of the same.
The director general explained that "the regional government bets on the project of the ZAL Cartagena as a key infrastructure to increase the logistics activity of the port city, which will attract new investments to the region and the generation of employment."
The meeting was attended by technicians from the Departments of Development and Infrastructures and Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, through the Institute of Promotion of the Region of Murcia;
The Port Authority of Cartagena, the Cartagena City Council, the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena, the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Cartagena (COEC), the Regional Federation of Business Organizations of Transport of Murcia (Froet), the Association of Entrepreneurs Maritime of Cartagena (Aseam), the Association of Companies of the Camachos and Deposit Franco.
The feasibility study of the ZAL, which has a drafting period of six months, is divided into six stages that will determine the characteristics, location and feasibility analysis of the logistics infrastructure.
It also includes an analysis of the scope of action from the territorial, urban, socio-economic and environmental point of view and, in addition, it should analyze linear, nodal infrastructures, activity, supply and demand.
Likewise, it will examine the logistics market of the region of Cartagena and the transport flows to realize the projections to the future of the traffic of merchandise.
Subsequently, you will get the traffic that can capture the railroad and the existing demand for logistical soil.
In subsequent phases, the economic and financial feasibility of the infrastructure will be examined and the model for the promotion and management of the Cartagena ZAR will be designed.
