The Ministry and the Polytechnic of Cartagena also study collaborations in energy efficiency and protection of the Mar Menor, as well as the improvement of rail service
The Minister of Development and Infrastructures, Pedro Rivera, and the rector of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), Alejandro Díaz, agreed today in Cartagena that students can practice during the entire construction process, from design to execution, The infrastructures that the Ministry of Development in the Region executes.
"Practices in companies are an essential part of the training of our students," said Rector Diaz, who added that "the agreement will contribute to increase the employability of the students of the School of Engineering of Roads, Channels and Ports and Engineering Of Minas. "
Rivera explained that this is an initiative that "seeks to promote the academic training of students in such a specific area as the works with the objective of expanding their professional perspectives, facilitating access to employment and being able to better serve society."
Students will be able to participate first hand in the development of the constructive process of infrastructures to realize the real monitoring of the work and to know in a practical way all the phases.
To this end, the regional government and the university will expand the collaboration agreement that both administrations are active.
In addition, students will be able to get acquainted with the material analysis work carried out by the Soil Mechanics Laboratory, under the Ministry of Development, and carry out end-of-grade practices and assignments in their units.
With the extension of the agreement, in addition to doing internships in the Laboratory will also have the opportunity to carry them out in works carried out by companies contracted by the Community.
During the meeting also discussed the improvement of the commuter rail service between Cartagena and Murcia, in which the Polytechnic calls for the long distance train that leaves at 6 pm can also be used by users of the Cercanías.
The Minister of Development informed the rector that this demand has already been transferred by the regional government to the Ministry of Development and Renfe.
Also, Rivera and Díaz reviewed the situation of the agreement on diagnosis of energy efficiency in the Region of Murcia, carried out by the Ministry, the UPCT and the Regional Federation of Employers of Construction (FRECOM), in order to conduct a study Of energy efficiency in the Region, which could be used to request European funds to carry out actions to improve energy efficiency in the Region.
Finally, during the meeting, the negotiations on the signing of a protection agreement for the northern Mar Menor area were resumed.
