The councilor of the area of Quality of Life of the City of Cartagena, Francisco Calderón, and the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín.
Have traveled this morning to Murcia to hold a working meeting with the manager of the Murciano Health Service (SMS), Francisco Agulló.
Several issues have been addressed in health matters during a visit that has responded to the requirement of the local Government to address various issues of interest.
Thus, the councilors have been informed of the open negotiations with the educational institution to facilitate that the students of the University School of Nursing of Cartagena can realize their practices in the Hospital of the Rosell as in the one of Saint Lucia.
In the same way, the actions to be implemented to decongest the mental health care provided in Cartagena have been addressed.
The local government has recently expressed its concern about the filling of the service, caused by several issues, such as the fact that patients in Health VIII (San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Torre Pacheco and Los Alcázares) are Served in the center of Cartagena.
In order to solve this situation, as proposed by the City Council and responsible for the Center of Mental Health of Cartagena, the SMS has confirmed the intention to strengthen, in the shortest possible short time, the Mental Health Unit existing in the Hospital de Los Arcos de San Javier.
This would mean that users in that area could be cared for there and not be forced to travel to Cartagena.
