The mayor of Cartagena, José López, and the Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, have called the Temporary Union of Companies in charge of the construction of the Palace of Sports to a meeting to discuss the current state of this infrastructure and pending issues for That its opening becomes a reality.
The event, which will take place next Monday, January 30, starting at 12:00 hours, in the Administrative Building of San Miguel, will be attended by the person responsible for the Dragados Levant area, Gregorio Fernández.
The municipal officials will transfer the report of the Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia (IBV), made at the request of the City Council.
This body has ruled that the pavement is not suitable for the boat, so López and Segado will demand from the UTE a solution that allows opening the installation in the shortest possible time and with all the guarantees.
The construction of the Palacio de los Deportes began in 2006 with a budget of 14 million euros and an execution period of 18 months.
Eight years later, in 2014, the previous municipal government welcomed the building, which has already raised its cost above 20 million euros.
A year later, the many deficiencies of this sports infrastructure were made public, not only with regard to the pavement of the main track, but also in other issues such as accessibility, water leaks or finishes.
