The three finalists of the XXV International Music Composition Competition of Pasodobles Villa de Pozo Estrecho, with which the City Council of Cartagena collaborates, have made themselves known this morning in the Palace of Cartagena.
The presentation was given by the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, together with the president of the Association of Neighbors of Strait Well, Sonia Montoya, and the secretary of the same, Luisa María Carrión.
The final ruling will be revealed in the concert that will take place next Saturday January 28 at 20:30 hours, within the calendar of activities of the parties of the deputation, in the Civic Center of Pozo Estrecho.
The council has highlighted the importance of this contest as an event that "keeps alive that pasodoble", a genre very rooted in Cartagena from which have come works so well known of this genre as are 'Suspiros de España', 'El abanico' or 'The grace of God', and that has become a hollow at national and international level.
On November 5, the deadline for the presentation of works to this edition was closed, with a total of 40 compositions, five of them international, coming from Finland, France, Portugal, Italy and Belgium.
Of all of them, the three finalist pasodobles are 'Recuerdos levantinos', 'Arrope' and 'Qart Hadast', in addition the pasodoble 'Many Congratulations', Finland, will receive the Mention to the Best Pasodoble Extranjero.
This year, and to commemorate the quarter of a century that fulfills the competition, will be awarded three prizes instead of the only prize that was usual: the first of 2000 €, the second of 1000 € and the third of 500 €.
The mention to the Best Foreign Pasodoble also has a endowment of 1000 €.
The centenary Santa Cecilia band from Pozo Estrecho, to which the president of the Association of Neighbors has thanked the great effort that makes to prepare in just one month this concert, will interpret the night of the failure the three finalist compositions in the Centro Civico Pozo Estrecho.
Montoya has also taken the opportunity to invite everyone who wants to enjoy the music to this evening.
