The cycle of encounters of the 2017 Mandarache Prize opens with a visit to Cartagena by the Mexican Juan Pablo Villalobos, author of 'Te vendo un perro' (Anagrama, 2015), a novel in which through humor we know the recent history of Mexico .
Villalobos, who has just won the last call for the prestigious Herralde Prize, will participate in the Mandarache meetings on January 17 and 18 in the mornings with students from institutes and 17 in the afternoon at the Foundation Cajamurcia in an act open to the public in general.
The first activity of Juan Pablo Villalobos will be the traditional meeting with 600 high school students this Tuesday, January 17, at 10:30 am in the Auditorium of the UPCT, ceded thanks to the collaboration of the Vice-Rectorate for Students, University Extension and Sports.
This year as a novelty, the meetings of the Paraninfo will be broadcast in streaming by the Digital Content Production Center (CPCD), which adds to the list of project collaborators.
Before the meeting open to the general public that will take place on Tuesday, at 7:30 pm, at the Cajamurcia Foundation, at 5:00 pm the writer will hold a press conference taking advantage of his visit to the ARQUA Museum in whose library he will give a masterful session of Writing to the 15 young members of the literary creation workshop Libreta Mandarache.
With the visit of Villalobos officially begin the activities of the twelfth edition of the Mandarache Prize, which has planned more meetings with author than ever thanks to the collaboration of the Caja Mediterráneo Foundation, whose library San Isidoro already participated in reading clubs And that from now on will host a new meeting of each author with high school students in its auditorium, which will allow each writer to see 200 readers more than in previous editions.
On this first occasion, due to date problems, this complementary meeting will take place in the UNED-Cartagena auditorium on Wednesday, January 18, at 11:00 am, after his visit to IES Salinas del Mar Menor.
Thus, Villalobos is the first of the six finalists of the Mandarache and Hache Awards that will visit Cartagena during January, February and March to meet hundreds of readers of the edition with more participants in the history of the project, in which More than 5,000 readers have participated, registered in one of its three categories.
