On January 14th and 15th, the 2x2 Mixed Tournament of Beach Volleyball will be held in the Playa Paraíso sports complex and will be used to inaugurate the new beach volleyball and handball facilities recently built there.

The head of the Sports Service of the UPCT, Ricardo Ibáñez, and Javier Meca, coordinator and organizer of the event of the Sports Club of La Manga.
The event will be hosted by speaker Gonzalo Navarro, who will comment and put music to the competition, and will offer food in the cafeteria and a barbecue at the end of the day for participants and assistants, both at popular prices.
The Tournament is an opportunity for the players of Playa Honda beach volleyball school, which was launched at the end of last year, to be tested by playing among themselves and with players from the Region and from other provinces that have registered To this tournament.
About 80 players will participate in the competition that will be played in two categories over the course of the two days: a mixed category Gold made up of the most advanced players to play on Saturday, and a mixed category Silver for newly started players who Will play their matches throughout Sunday.
Ibáñez explained that this event falls within the objective of the Sports Service of the UPCT to promote the practice of this minority sport to make it a site in the regional sports arena.
In this sense at the Polytechnic University "has made a very strong bet to give value to this sport that will continue to bet."
In addition, it has encouraged all sports fans to get to know the new facilities and enjoy two days of sports.
For his part, Javier Meca has highlighted the championship as "one more step in the promotion of this sport" and with which we want to break with the seasonality of it, since in our region can be played throughout the year Thanks to the good weather.
He also highlighted the importance of new facilities that facilitate the practice of sports by having players' changing rooms and protected tracks from the wind that normally blows on the beach.
