Last week to visit in the Muram of Cartagena the exhibition of Nicole Palacios'HirosiMA mon amour' (08/01/2017)

The Regional Museum of Modern Art (Muram) in Cartagena closes on January 15 the exhibition 'HiroshiMA mon amour', with which the French creator based in the port city Nicole Palacios pays homage to Japanese cinema.

A day earlier, Palacios will give a 'Transfer and collage workshop' for people with training in Fine Arts, Design or related branches.

The title of the sample refers to the Franco-Japanese production of 1959 directed by Alain Resnais.

'Hiroshi (MA)' refers to one of the great directors of Japanese cinema as Hiroshi Teshigahara (1927-2001), author of 'Woman of the Sand' (1964), and also remembers Ang Lee and 'Eat, drink, love' (1994).

Of these films, Palacios collects frames that incorporates in its compositions, inviting to enter the visitor of a direct form to its creative and emotional universe.

"In total, 35 works are exhibited in the Muram, many of them created by Palacios exclusively for this exhibition organized by Culture", as recalled the director general of Cultural Property, Maria Comas, who encouraged those who have not yet done so to " To visit during these days the exhibition and to know the unique work of this artist who starts from the film frames to create new narrations that will surprise and seduce the public.

The works of Nicole Palacios range from the intervention with mixed techniques on board until the silkscreen and the photographic manipulation.

In his compositions he is present the transferred drawing, the painting and the iconic images, and his creations are fruit of the investigation and the processes developed in his long artistic trajectory.

The seal of Palacios is the use of flat inks and bright colors, influence of the design, and his work can be inscribed in the revisionist current of pop, where he puts special emphasis in the world of the cinema.

In the exhibition that can be seen in Cartagena brings together references of Japanese cinema with techniques such as the transfer of images and frames with which it gets a gear as a great collage creating a new narration.

'HiroshiMA mon amour' can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

On Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Sundays and public holidays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Teaching workshop

The 'Transfer and collage workshop' that will be given by Palacios will take place next Saturday, January 14th.

There will be two sessions, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and is aimed at people with training in Fine Arts, Design or related branches.

It is an experimentation workshop in which images will be created from frames with various techniques: transfer, collage, templates and monotypes.

These techniques are some of the techniques employed by the artist in his exhibition 'HiroshiMA mon amour'.

In the workshop will be a practical and dynamic exercise so that the targeted participants can develop their creativity.

The objective is to raise awareness of the great wealth of techniques existing in contemporary art and to help artists to act freely when creating a work with transfer and collage.
