The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment and the Community of Irrigators of the Field of Cartagena today established a work route to carry out the implementation of the system of nitrate removal of the waters of rambles and natural channels of the desalbador of the Mojón, so that they can be diverted to the underwater outfall of San Pedro del Pinatar.
The meeting was attended by the Directors General of Water, Andrés Martínez;
Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Carmen Teodora Morales, and Environmental Quality and Evaluation, Encarna Molina;
The president of the Central Syndicate of Irrigators of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct, Lucas Jiménez, and representatives of the Community of Irrigators of the Field of Cartagena.
Water director Andrés Martínez explained that "the preliminary draft, which will be completed in about a month, will be sent to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA), which is the owner of the facility.
The meeting showed the interest and commitment of irrigators to have all possible solutions and measures to make agricultural activity compatible with the care of the Mar Menor.
