The Councilor for the area of ​​Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, has moved this morning to the Industrial Estate Cabezo Beaza along with the counselor Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, on a tour of the facilities of the Food Bank of the Region (BARM) which has its headquarters in this industrial enclave.
There, the mayor talked with the president and vice-president of the BARM, Enrique García and Bartolomé Gómez, respectively, whom he congratulated as representatives of the volunteer staff, for the magnificent work done, with special emphasis on the fantastic work developed during the Christmas campaign In which they have responded to the most disadvantaged groups.
In the same way, Francisco Calderón has wanted the involvement of the regional administration with the Food Bank of the Region to contribute to the noble objectives pursued by this social entity.
The head of Quality of Life of the City of Cartagena has requested that the Food Bank of the region located in Cartagena receive the same support that has already obtained, precisely, the Food Bank of Segura, who received from the Community last year , An aid of 30,000 euros for the acquisition of an industrial cold room.
Calderón has welcomed this fact, while waiting for the Food Bank of the region located in Cartagena to receive the same consideration by the regional executive to continue contributing to the achievement of its goals.
In this regard, Francisco Calderón has stated that he is convinced that CARM will attend to the request made by the association and will pay for the purchase of a shelf for storage of products, an infrastructure that BARM needs to offer its usual efficient service.
Calderón has taken the opportunity to reiterate the will of the local government to continue maintaining a close relationship of collaboration between entities, materialized, among other initiatives, with a direct subsidy granted by the Consistory.
FOOD BANK OF THE REGION
The Food Bank of the Region, located in Cartagena, works together with 89 charities from the eight municipalities of the Region of Cartagena, which has to add other associations of cities such as Aguilas, Lorca or Totana.
In 2016 it has served more than 22,000 users, in addition to 1,200 children under two years.
It has distributed more than 25,000 kilos of food, from the FEGA Plan (European funds), as well as donations received from companies and individuals.
VISIT TO RESIDENCE OF SOURCE CUBAS
Subsequently, the mayor has gone to the residence of older people of Fuente de Cubas.
Calderón, where along with the counselor has visited the different rooms of the site, taking the opportunity to congratulate the new year residents and staff of the facility.
Finally, Francisco Calderón has a wish: that the Autonomous Community comply with all the procedures to arrange the total accreditation that has the residence and to be able to offer more places to the elderly that require it.
