The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, visited today the facilities of the Food Bank of Segura (BASMUR), in Cartagena, where she was able to meet the new Board of Directors of this entity.
The minister praised "the selfless work of the largest volunteers of the Food Bank" and stressed that "volunteering is a form of social participation that favors and encourages active aging."
The regional government recently granted a subsidy of 30,000 euros to this NGO for the purchase and purchase of a cold store, intended for the preservation of perishable products.
The Segura Food Bank is organized in the departments of provisioning, stock management and distribution.
Basmur began its journey in 2009 under the name of Asoram, with the distribution of 2,800 kg of food among 500 people.
Three years later, in 2012, he joined Fesbal as a Food Bank Association of Segura in Murcia and access to European food distributed by FEGA, with a large contribution, distributes one million kilos.
