MC will demand in the municipal Plenary on December 30, that the Autonomous Community be urged to increase its own funds through its budget for the Juvenile Guarantee System, by paying with autonomic items the activities of the General Directorate and thus avoiding the Limitation of the European contribution to the City of Cartagena.
The Youth Guarantee System is a European initiative that seeks to facilitate the access of young people between the ages of 16 and 30 to the labor market.
In this sense, Youth Councilor Ricardo Segado (MC) explains that the rationale of this program, subsidized by the European Social Fund (ESF) until the year 2020, provides that young people can receive an offer of employment , Education or training, after finishing their studies or becoming unemployed.
In this way, the Autonomous Community, through the Directorate General for Youth, allocates funds received from the Youth Employment Operational Program (POEJ) and the ESF Operational Program 2014-2020 to the municipalities of the Region in order that the To be used in the recruitment of personnel to support and develop the program, as well as to carry out activities, workshops and courses for people who are part of the Youth Guarantee System.
Reduction of the CARM grant
Due to the reduction of the CARM subsidy, the City Council of Cartagena has contributed in the year 2016 the total of activities, workshops and courses, which has entailed an expenditure of more than twenty thousand euros.
"We do it convinced that it is necessary," says Segado, who also adds that "in total, 344 young people have benefited from these workshops, of which half a hundred have managed to find a job."
The mayor says that facing the year 2017, "the Directorate General of Youth is left with some of these funds to organize their own activities at the regional level, so the City Council will have to work even more to support the salary of one of the Employees contracted for this purpose, since CARM reduces the subsidy by 30%, which is equivalent to more than 10,000 euros. "
CMO bet on youth employment promotion and aid
Also, Ricardo Segado assures that MC bets to continue with the policies of fomenting and aid to the youth employment, of direct form and through the city councils.
"For this reason, we will continue to contribute from the municipal government the resources that are necessary to continue with a program that benefits more and more young people."
Finally, the Councilor for Youth ensures that "we miss that the commitment of the Autonomous Community, through its own budgets, is a decided commitment and not a bet each year more impaired," as shown by the fact that during the 2016, the regional government has only contributed 8.11% of the total funding for the Youth Employment Operational Program
