The Year of Enlightenment will announce in 2017 a historic period for the knowledge of Cartagena through a series of activities that will have as an example the Year of Modernism, which has been held in the city in the last twelve months.
To this end, the Working Table of the Enlightenment met in the afternoon of Monday, December 19, in the Hall of Councilors of the Palace Hall to finalize the activities of the Year of the Enlightenment.
The meeting was chaired by the Councilor for Archaeological Heritage, Ricardo Segado, with the assistance of the Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, Heritage Coordinator, Maria del Carmen Berrocal, and official chroniclers, among others representatives of the military, university and Associations and technicians.
The activities will begin next January 20 with the celebration of the 301 anniversary of the birth of Carlos III, one of the most representative figures of Spanish illustration.
This will be the starting point of the events that will last for a whole year.
The Year of the Enlightenment will be dedicated to divulging this essential historical period for the knowledge of Cartagena through a threefold aspect: culture, society and heritage.
