The City of Cartagena commemorates the third anniversary of the death of the official chronicler of the city, José Monerri Murcia, with the edition of a book that includes the latest works dedicated to the Carthaginians in the Municipal Street.
The posthumous work, which includes a series of more than 200 articles published over several years in the newspaper La Verdad where the chronicler deployed his professional activity and with which he continued to collaborate after his retirement, was presented at an event open to the public Yesterday Wednesday, December 14, in the hall of ceremonies of the Palace Hall.
The event was attended by the mayor, José López, who has promoted the edition of this collection of articles through the Municipal Archive;
Together with one of the current chroniclers of the city, Luis Miguel Perez Adán, who dealt with the figure and work of Monerri;
In addition to his widow, Maria Eulalia Pedreño.
On November 30, three years after the death of the city's chronicler, between 1997 and 2013.
With the publication of this book, which includes other unpublished articles, the Mayor of the city wants to contribute to the collection and dissemination of the part of his legacy that was pending due to his death.
This is the second Monerri compilation on streets in Cartagena that is published with the support of the municipal institution and which gives continuity to the works of previous chroniclers on this same theme, such as Federico Casal.
