At the end of the same the mayor has shown his satisfaction with the growth rate that is experiencing this entity that, according to the mayor, has achieved a very good cruising speed, increasing the number of congressmen who visit Cartagena quantitatively and qualitatively.
Among the initiatives of the action plan for the year 2017 the first mayor emphasized the presence of the congress office in different national tourism fairs, such as Fitur, and international as Frankfurt.
This initiative aims to take advantage of the fact that the big cities are losing attraction as a congress destination in favor of smaller ones like Cartagena that also have other tourist types to offer.
In this aspect Lopez has highlighted that sixty percent of the congressmen return to Cartagena to carry out other types of tourism, whether archaeological, sun and beach or sports.
On the other hand, the mayor has said that they will continue working to solve the shortcomings that Cartagena presents as a destination for congresses such as the lack of railway and airport infrastructures that limit its growth in this regard.
At the end of the meeting, it also approved the minutes of the ordinary session held on May 30, as well as the expense and revenue forecast for 2017.
