The VIII Volunteer Commitment Award, organized by the Cartagena City Council, acknowledged the work of Marina Cremades of the Association of Charity San Vicente de Paúl on Tuesday, as well as the work of ACCEM, Association Of Spanish Catholic Action on Migration.
The Councilor for the Quality of Life Area, Francisco Calderón, attended this event, where he emphasized the tireless and priceless work that these people do for the common good, without expecting anything in return and that will never be sufficiently rewarded.
He also expressed the full support and gratitude of the municipal government.
Also in the gala was the mayor of Social Services, Carmen Martín del Amor, as well as other councilors of the municipal corporation.
MARINA CREMADES
Volunteer of the Charity Association of San Vicente de Paul, Marina Cremades has more than sixty years of volunteering.
She was part of the Ladies and Daughters of Charity who assist families in home visits in which food, clothing, medicines or cleaning supplies are provided.
In the same way, she was integrated into the Vincentian volunteers of which she was treasurer and president for years, in which she carried out the work of coordinating the different cooperation groups with other entities for those in need.
Likewise, she was in charge of founding the Santa Luisa-San Ginés group in the neighborhood of Virgen de la Caridad, where cooking classes are given to women, snacks are prepared for those in the workshop and meals on holidays.
ACCEM
For its part, the Association of Spanish Catholic Action on Migration (ACCEM) stands out for its work to improve the living conditions of people who are vulnerable and especially the refugees, migrants and people in situation Or risk of social exclusion.
ACCEM has a trajectory in Cartagena of ten years, during which time 63 volunteers have maintained their activity, serving as support to the Social Emergency Day Center with the provision of basic services of breakfasts, snacks, showers, laundries and slogans.
It also offers Spanish classes for immigrants and applicants for international protection at different levels: literacy, basic level and advanced level.
Its role is also highlighted in the support of tasks related to the management of reception floors, support in the execution of purchases and management or in the field of health care.
The award was collected by Accem's local manager, Mohamed Keballi.
