The Local Government Board approved this morning in an extraordinary session the Cartagena 2020 Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) document for its financing by 80 percent with European funds, through a new call whose deadline for submission Ends tomorrow.
As explained by the mayor, José López, this is an improved and updated version of the document presented to this same call last year and was left out, in the same line of court;
Obtaining the project of La Manga, that was chosen, a score of 70/27, compared to 70/25 of Cartagena.
López has commented that, after analyzing the evaluation criteria followed at the time, several aspects have been improved for this new call by the Casco Antiguo Society and the Agency for Local Development and Employment that have been in charge of its adaptation, keeping the general lines Of this project, which counted on its elaboration with a wide citizen participation, through meetings with the sectors involved and of the platform Contigo, and the unanimous support of the plenary of the Town Hall.
The actions divided into four strategies contemplate an investment of 18.7 million euros, of which the City Council would contribute 20 percent.
The EDUSI Cartagena 2020 is articulated around the following thematic objectives to be deployed between 2016 and 2020:
Social inclusion;
Low carbon economy;
Information and communication technologies;
Environment
Among the initiatives that affect the historic center of the city, as it is a call for funds for urban development, stand out tending to use the bicycle or those linked to information technologies or smart cities, which have been working together with The UPCT;
The excavation of the amphitheater and recovery of the axis towards the Plaza del Lago;
Or social inclusion initiatives, both in the socio-cultural and entrepreneurial spheres, highlighting a plan for the recovery of disused homes or for accompanying people to relocate.
THE MAYOR IS SATISFIED WITH THE MEETING OF CARTAGENA HIGH SPEED
Asked by journalists, the mayor, at the end of the Board of Governors, the mayor has been satisfied by the outcome of the meeting of the company Cartagena Alta Velocidad, especially as regards the agreement to cut off the arrival of the AVE To Cartagena of the project of the City of Murcia, as well as the possibility of attacking the bahia of Beniel independently so that the high speed arrives as soon as possible to Cartagena without depending on the arrival in Murcia.
Lopez has reiterated the need to arrive as soon as possible and has pointed out the loss of a congress of Russian tourists who wanted to celebrate in Cartagena for the five and a half hours that still separate by train to Madrid from Cartagena.
