The media have gathered in the last hours the news of the future assumption by the State of the eight freeways in bankruptcy situation and risk of liquidation.
In this line, the Minister of Development, Iñigo de la Serna, recently said that "highways will revert to the State and the State will decide how to manage them."
Among these highways, is the one that connects Cartagena with the municipality Almería de Vera, that is, that links us with Andalusia.
MC considers that the new situation raises the opportunity to avoid that the situation of isolation of the Region of Cartagena with respect to its connection with Andalusia is maintained.
For this reason, MC requests the CARM, given the involvement of several municipalities in the route of the highway and the regional nature of the problem, to assume the claim of our training and address with the central Government the implementation of the freeway Cartagena Vera, doomed to failure since its creation as a toll road.
The president and spokesman of MC, Jesus Giménez, said that "if the state rescues these highways, it is time that Cartagena-Vera, as Cartagena Alicante should also be free for all citizens."
Giménez added that "the regional government has before it a magnificent opportunity to show its interest for the citizens of the Region of Cartagena, matching them with the neighbors of other areas of the Region who enjoy free connection via road with the Mediterranean and Andalusia, privilege of which, we all know, we do not enjoy the Cartagena taxpayers ".
