Citizens will also request the change of location of the peddling space in Los Nietos for reasons of health and hygiene
The neighbors of the coastal town of Los Nietos, in a recent meeting with the Municipal Citizens Group, have denounced the poor hygienic conditions in which the area where the local summer market is located.
According to the neighbors, the current location of this area of sale is in a space that is characterized by lack of cleanliness and unhealthiness.
These poor hygienic conditions make this place a place unfit for the work of merchants and cause some discomfort to visitors;
In addition, in this location there are a good number of garbage containers, and when it rains originate large puddles.
According to the Citizen spokesman in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, "we want the City Council to know this situation and study the possibility of a change of location that improves the working conditions of these professionals."
Manuel Padín also said that the neighbors want to re-install the flea market every month of the year and not only during the summer months, "would be to return to the previous situation, and is an idea to consider because both the Community and the City Council Are designing strategies to pursue the deseasonalisation of the economic activity of coastal towns in the municipality, and this may be one of the actions to achieve it. "
In the same situation is the town of Los Urrutias, whose neighbors also consider that their market should be held weekly.
For all of the above, Ciudadanos Cartagena will present an initiative in the next municipal plenary to the local government to study the possibility of changing the location of the market of Los Nietos, and consider reversing the periodicity of its installation and expand to all months of the year In this town and in Los Urrutias.
