These are some of the questions that the writer Laura Freixas will approach this Tuesday, December 13, through two acts to the Cultural Center Ramón Alonso Luzzy.
Invited by the programs Cartagena Think and Read, think, imagine of the Department of Culture, and in collaboration with the Department of Equality of the City of Cartagena of the City of Cartagena, Feixas will begin by approaching The role of Culture in (DES) At six in the afternoon.
The lecture will be presented by Gele Artes, of the Promoter Group of Cartagena Piensa.
Already at 20:00 hours in the Library of Adults will take place the presentation of The Silence of the mothers.
And other reflections on women in Culture, included within the cultural program Read, Think, Imagine, where also will be accompanied by Gele Artes.

Why is it that there are virtually no works of authors (nor, in general, women thinkers and artists) in the canon?
Why is war a constant theme in culture, while motherhood is barely represented? ... To these and other questions wants to answer this book, which brings together articles and prologues published by Laura Freixas over almost twenty years .
His first part, Temas, studies the tendency of the patriarchal culture to make invisible both the experience and the work of women;
It stops at maternity as a great forgotten subject;
Points out the role of culture in perpetuating and legitimizing gender violence;
Analyzes the difficulties faced by women with artistic ambition, and the facilities, on the other hand, that the institution of the "muse" offers to male artists ... The second, Autoras, gathers some texts that always go from a gender perspective, In the work of writers like Virginia Woolf, Rosa Chacel, Simone de Beauvoir, Carmen Martín Gaite or Elizabeth Smart.
Laura Freixas was born in Barcelona in 1958. She has published short stories, novels (the last one, "The Others are Happier", 2011), essay ("Literatura y mujeres", 2000), autobiography ("Adolescence in Barcelolna towards 1970", 2007 ), And now, "An underground life, 1991-1994 journal" (2013).
She chairs the Classical and Modern Association for Gender Equality in Culture, founded in 2009.
