With Christmas just around the corner, sport and solidarity will join hands in the first edition of the Dragon Boat Indoor Cup Solidaria that will collect food to donate it to the Home of the Good Samaritan.
The appointment will be next Saturday, December 17, at 9:00 am in Club Santiago pool at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the main requirement to take part will be the donation of three kilos of non-perishable food per participant.
This solidarity initiative is organized by the University Club of Dragon Boat and has the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena and the UPCT, among other institutions.
The person in charge of publicizing all the details of this supportive event was the Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado. The mayor was accompanied by the head of the Sports Service of the UPCT, Ricardo Ibáñez;
By the president of the Spanish Dragon Boat Association, Jorge Carracedo;
The Community Manager, Alicia García and the head of the Home of the Good Samaritan, Juan José Sánchez.
Ricardo Segado has highlighted that this sporting event will consist of the traditional game of the scarf in special circumstances as it will develop in a pool and a boat Dragon Boat.
According to the mayor said this type of boats of Asian origin have the head of a dragon in the stern and the tail of the same in the bow and are directed by a helmsman and a tamborilero that marks the pace of the stroke.
You can compete in the following categories: male, female, Carthaginians and Romans, special bodies and breast cancer survival.
In order to participate, no prior registration is necessary, it will be enough to present the same day of the test organized in teams of six participants, at least and bring the food or toys in good condition.
At the same time, all those who want to donate can do so even if they do not participate in the test.
