This Saturday took place the closing ceremony of the First Open Photosub, organized by the diving centers Mangamar, Rivemar-Cabo de Palos and Hormigas Islands, in collaboration with the City of Cartagena.
The Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, was in charge of handing the check to the winner, Rafael Fernández.
Scuba diving is, along with our cultural heritage, one of the star tourist products of Cartagena.
The marine bottom of Cabo de Palos-Hormigas Islands is a true treasure, to which we must add the marine reserve of Cabo Tiñoso, which makes our municipality the only one in the world with two marine reserves, said the mayor.
It competed in two modalities, reflex and compact, and the participants had to present 5 photos each and a photo for the special category of 'Cabo de Palos, Village of fishing tradition'.
The weather tested both the organizers and the competitors, as on Thursday 8/12 the wind and the bad sea prevented to perform in the places provided for the second dive, while on Friday the competition had to be completely annulled due to the Bad sea and the wind that ravaged Cabo de Palos.
Luckily on Saturday morning the weather respected and it was possible to perform one of the two dives successfully planned and even with sunlight.
Although this has not seemed to affect the creativity and the result of the collections and much less the spirit of organizers and participants.
For the mayor of Tourism the sample of photographs that have been made during the test will contribute to make known that the diving of Cabo de Palos has a preferred position among the best in the world.
The curator of the event, Javier Ferrer, from the production company Hombres Rana, produced a video of the Open, after which it was possible to enjoy the pass of the collections made by the 19 participating couples.
Regarding the prizes, the first classified in Compact category has been 500 euros, while the first category Absolute (reflex) has taken 3,000 euros.
In addition, they have distributed trips, diving equipment, computers and trophies, so the organizers have wanted to thank the effort made by the spurs, who have been Aqualung, SSI, Blue Force, UTD Spain, Department of Tourism of the city of Cartagena , Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Dive Assure, the Magazine Divers and the Restaurant The Parador.
