On December 2, as part of the actions to develop the Friendly Beach project, representatives of the Don Calabria Institute of the city of Verona (Italy) met at the Local Development and Employment Agency of the City of Cartagena With technicians from the association APICES and technicians from the ADLE to program the actions of training of trainers in Spain and to spread a new methodology in attention to the mentally ill by entities and tourist companies.
This partner, Instituto Don Calabria, is the expert in designing the new and innovative methodology in the care of people with mental disabilities by tourism operators, based on the experience developed in the project Rimini Autismo (Italy), in which it was formed To tourist companies on how to respond to autistic people, facilitating social integration and the holiday stay of the whole family and contributing to the creation of employment of this group. For its part, the Association for the Integration of Community Psychiatric Sickness in Cartagena and Comarca (APICES) will be responsible for creating a team of trainers and involve the other local associations to actively participate in the tourist integration of this group.
On the other hand, the ADLE will be in charge of the organization of the courses with the operators and tourist entities that affect the tourism from hotels to sports and leisure companies.
Ana Belén Castejón, Deputy Mayor and responsible for the Economic Strategy area, recalled that "the objective of the project is to promote inclusive tourism for people with intellectual disabilities and their families in beach areas, developing an innovative model for the tourism industry That can be transferable to tour operators, hoteliers, travel agencies, companies of nautical, sport, leisure activities and any entity closely related to the tourism.
The target group of the project are families in which one of its members has a psychic disability, which is intended to raise awareness in the sector on how to cover and respond to these needs in an innovative way.
Friendly Beach has 10 partners from 4 countries, five from Italy, two from the United Kingdom, two from Spain and one from Croatia, being the Italian leader.

The project started last July and lasts for 24 months, ending in June 2018. It has a budget of 165,628.30 euros, of which 75%, 124,221.75 euros, are subsidized by the COSME 2015 project to support competitive and sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
APICES and ADLE will be responsible in this project for the implementation and validation of the innovative methodology in companies of the tourism and leisure sector of the municipality that want to participate in the project, as well as training tourist companies and other entities of this methodology of Care and service to people with mental disabilities and their families, which can be a great opportunity for the tourism and leisure sector.
The expected result will have a double benefit, on the one hand to increase and improve the commercialization and quality of the tourist and leisure offer of Cartagena, and on the other hand to comply with the social integration of this group and its companions with a standardized use of services and Resources of the municipality.
