The Minister of Health emphasizes that "the second phase of construction will be awarded in the first half of 2017 once approved by the Governing Council"
The pediatric consultations of the new health center of San Antón de Cartagena will be fully operational starting next Monday, December 12, as announced by the Minister of Health, Encarna Guillén, during his visit to said center.
The Ministry of Health concluded the first stage of construction of the new center of the Cartagena-San Antón Basic Health Zone, the Health Area II-Cartagena, which has more than 20,000 individual health cards, corresponding 2,965 for users under 14 years of age.
This infrastructure replaces the current one, due to its impossibility of growth.
It is projected in two phases whose amount amounts to 4,408,920.98 euros, of which 3,858,932 euros are for the construction of the second phase.
The minister said that "it is an energy efficient infrastructure and, in addition, is equipped with domotic control for lighting and air conditioning."
To begin offering care in Pediatrics, five professionals will be transferred from the current health center: three pediatricians, a nurse and an administrative.
The first phase of the building affects an area of ​​518.09 square meters.
Seven pediatric consultations, both medicine and nursing, and their corresponding common areas and waiting rooms have been authorized.
Guillén stressed that "this action is a major improvement and will decongest the facilities of the current center, because, at the moment and until the end of construction of the second phase, will only house the services of Family and Community Medicine and nursing for adults ".
Second stage
The Murciano Health Service (SMS) has budgeted an investment of 3,858,932 euros, approved last week in Council of Government, for the construction of the second phase.
The execution period contemplated for this second phase is of 14 months from the adjudication of the works.
The head of Health, Encarna Guillén, stressed that "with this new infrastructure the objective is to improve the health care offered to Cartagena and improve the working conditions of primary care professionals."
The area built in the second phase will be 3,840 square meters, distributed in 1,268 square meters in the basement and 2,572 in the ground floor and first.
The dependencies will be: 14 family medicine consultations, 12 nursing, 2 polyvalent, 2 dentistry and dental hygienist, room extractions, cures, special techniques, rehabilitation, as well as area of ​​attention to women and Administrative units.
To conclude, Guillén said that "the construction of the second phase will be done gradually, without hampering the care activity of the new area of ​​Pediatrics, in order to have the new center as soon as possible."
