International Menéndez Pelayo University chose the city of Cartagena, five years ago, to install its headquarters number twelve.
Today, December 1, in the premises of the institution located in the Chamber of Commerce, celebrated the anniversary of this installation that came to complete the university panorama of the city.
The mayor of Cartagena, José López, has attended this event which has, in turn, been attended by the rector of the UIMP, César Nombela;
Of the academic director of the headquarters of Cartagena, Juan Jesús Bernal;
The president of the consortium, the Councilor for Culture, Education, Youth and Heritage, Ricardo Segado, and his manager, José Carlos Ros;
As well as the Councilor for Education, David Martinez.
In the words of the mayor, the election of Cartagena to install the UIMP was a great decision that contributed to complete the university offer of the city.
López has described the UIMP as a university center for the development and diffusion of culture, research and specialization, in which activities of different degrees and university specialties converge, whose mission is to disseminate culture and science, foster relations of exchange And scientific and cultural information of international and interregional interest, and the development of activities of high research and specialization.
During the anniversary ceremony, the Rector and the Director of the Headquarters who summarized the activities carried out by the UIMP during these years have intervened and, subsequently, diplomas have been delivered to the collaborators.
Finally, the coral mass has intoned the traditional Gaudeamus Igitur.
INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY MENÉNDEZ PELAYO IN CARTAGENA
The UIMP was established in Cartagena in October 2011, through a Consortium for the Organization and Management of the Permanent Center of Menéndez Pelayo International University in Cartagena, formed by the University itself, the Cartagena City Council and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of the city.
After a few years of launching activities and gear between the different administrations, today, the activity is consolidated and with great prospects, thanks to poyo received from the UIMP itself.
In Cartagena the training offer is composed of immersion courses in English language, where about seven hundred students were received in the last year;
Postgraduate courses;
As well as international courses.
