The Board of Trustees of the Teatro Romano Foundation approved at the meeting held on Thursday morning, December 1, the hiring of an augmented reality company that will provide programs for use on the mobile, tablet or with Glasses of virtual reality during the visit to the monument.
In this way, within a period of about 10 months, according to the time required by the company, part of a performance within the Roman Theater itself could be witnessed through augmented reality.
We are going to convert what until now was a single museum in an amusement park, as has indicated the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, adding that this will attract many people to the Roman Theater.
In addition to the first mayor, the Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, the Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, and the Minister of Culture, Noelia Arroyo, also approved last year's accounts. Have shown the numbers of this year in terms of visitors, which surpassed in the month of October to those of 2015, and who expect to surpass the 200 thousand visitors to December.
As for the possible opening of a free day to visit the Roman Theater, Jose López has indicated that he has delivered the document with the proposal to the counselor Noelia Arroyo, to study the methods to start it, something that is already developed in Cities such as Granada or Malaga.
With this free opening of the monument, which would be an investment rather than a subsidy, as the mayor has pointed out, Cartagena may visit the museum more times a year and show it to relatives and friends who come to the city.
The first mayor also reported that the Roman Theater has been self-funded with 75% with tickets and other sales mechanisms.
