The mayor, José López (MC), presided this morning the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Teatro Romano Foundation that has been developed at the headquarters of this entity (Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Cartagena).

Lopez has transmitted to the Board of Trustees the initiative approved during the last Plenum of the City Council of Cartagena, at the proposal of MC, which requests the gratuitousness, on the first and third Sunday of each month, in those museums in which the City Council participates, as Occurs in the Roman Theater, for the neighbors of the municipality of Cartagena and the Natural Region of the Campo de Cartagena.

The mayor said that during the meeting of the Board "has proposed the study of this measure," noting that it would serve as an "investment", in reference to the possibility that the inhabitants of the Region can attract tourists from other places , Whether friends or family, to visit the Museum.

The members of the Board of Trustees of the Teatro Romano Foundation have pledged to study this proposal to give an answer to it.

Motion of MC

On November 24th, the Municipal Plenary approved the proposal of MC that established the continuity of the gratuitousness in the museums of municipal competition, in addition to requesting the same measure in which it has some kind of participation in its exploitation, the first and Third Sunday of each month.

Both measures are intended for residents of the municipality of Cartagena who so certify, as well as for citizens residing in the Natural District of the Campo de Cartagena who also certify it.

During the presentation of the initiative, the councilman of the Municipal Group of MC, Ricardo Segado, stressed that "in MC we understand that respect for culture and traditions is a fundamental pillar of the development of a society, being among the functions of administrations The promotion of the same so that the citizens accede to them in the best conditions ".

In addition, he concluded, "this initiative will positively influence the potential for personal development of the neighbors through cultural consumption, so it is necessary to encourage the visit to our museums, not forgetting that cultural policies have relevant effects on social reality Bringing the citizen closer to the in depth knowledge of its heritage and its history ".
