The councilor of the area of ​​Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, presided this morning in the administrative building of San Miguel, a new meeting of the Animal Welfare Bureau, which has been developed in two parts.
The first of them has dealt with the issue of urban cat colonies, showing the current legislation that must regulate this issue.
Subsequently, other issues have been addressed.
In particular, the modification of the municipal ordinance referring to domestic animals has been approached.
Thus, the members of the Bureau have debated and contributed their proposals.
Finally, the first eight articles of the aforementioned regulations have been seen, which will always be subject to the Regional Law on protection and defense of pets.
Following the regulatory channels, the contents that emanate from the work of the Animal Welfare Bureau go to the study of municipal legal services, who, once reviewed, will forward the text to the Bureau so that it continues to agree on its wording and proceed with its approval .
ANIMAL WELFARE TABLE
The Animal Welfare Board, composed of Local Police, Seprona, UNED, UPCT, CATAD, Veterinarians Association, animal protectors, legal services of the City Council, technicians of the Department of Health, as well as representatives of all political groups of the Corporation Municipal, develops its activity through two work teams: one, focused on legal aspects and the second, aimed at designing prevention works and educational campaigns, presenting initiatives for the debate, design and execution of programs and activities, among others Issues.
The Board, established on October 6, 2015, has as one of its objectives to promote awareness raising policies to ensure responsible adoptions of domestic animals, prevent the abandonment of pets and monitor compliance with the Law on Protection and Ownership of Animals.
