The Department of Education of the City of Cartagena has organized the first drawing competition Trinidad Garcia, which under the motto, Our Field, will be developed in the coming months in schools of the municipality to spread the importance of the rural environment.
This initiative, part of the Neighborhood Councils of La Magdalena and Molinos Marfagones has, in turn, with the collaboration of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena.
The Councilor for Education, David Martinez, was in charge of publicizing all the details of this contest today, November 30, at the Palace Hall.
The mayor has been accompanied by the Head of Unit of students and Extension University of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Miguel Diaz;
The president of the neighborhood association of La Magdalena, Ginesa García and the president of the Neighborhood Council of Molinos Marfagones, Antonio Bernal.
This type of initiative, according to Martínez, demonstrates the firm purpose of the Government team to take the activities organized by the different councils to all corners of the municipality, as well as promoting sectors that have been more forgotten.
In addition, the mayor has offered the facilities of the cultural center Ramon Alonso Luzzy to make, around the month of April, an exhibition with the works presented.
With this activity, schools will work on creativity and the plastic arts, as well as knowledge of the rural environment, its ecosystem, biodiversity and other interesting didactic and pedagogical aspects, and at the same time, encourage teamwork in the classroom, Through the creation of collective murals.
Finally, the contest is named Trinidad Garcia in honor of a neighbor of La Magdalena, a referent as a woman in the rural environment, according to Ginesa Garcia has commented.
CATEGORIES AND PARTICIPATION
Today, 30 November, the deadline for the centers interested in taking part in the contest is open until 31 December.
The deadline for submission of papers is 1 March.
In total there are five categories in which you can participate: three destined to the cycles of Primary Education, one for Special Education and another one for the collective murals.
