The Casino of Cartagena hosted Thursday, during the celebration of the talk The Municipality of Cartagena in the CARM budgets during the last ten years: data on discrimination, organized by the Legal Circle of Cartagena, the presentation of the study The end of the career of Pablo Pérez, graduated in Business Administration from the UPCT, which compiles the conclusions of the comparison of the treatment received by Cartagena with respect to the other important municipalities of the region in the budgets of the Autonomous Community of Murcia .
The mayor, José López, attended this event, in which the young author of the work was accompanied by Antonio García, professor of the UPCT and current manager of the Casco Antiguo Society, and the president of the Legal Circle, Rafael Martínez.
According to García, what is shown in this study is an analysis of territorial expenditure by municipalities, and once this has been done, it has been moved to per capita figures to have verifiable data, noting that spending from 2008 to 2016 for the Municipality of Cartagena has been clearly lower than the regional average and lower than other relevant municipalities, such as Murcia or Lorca.
Thus, the exact figure that would have corresponded to Cartagena in case of having received a similar financing to the regional average, that amounts to about 14 million euros which is what the municipality would have stopped receiving.
In addition, Antonio Garcia added that this work also includes a study of how much would have corresponded to the municipality of Cartagena if the allocation of territorial expenditure per capita would have been equal to that which has received the one of Murcia, and the figure goes to 300 million euros , It is clear the discrimination of our city according to the numbers provided by the Autonomous Community, the municipality has been underrated in the budget.
