The Department of Youth of the City of Cartagena and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the competition Between Strings and Metals with an Extraordinary Prize.
This award aims to recognize the figure of those winners of the competition Between Strings and Metals that, throughout the years after the achievement of their award, have demonstrated a remarkable work in their musical trajectory.
In this way it is intended to put in value the excellence of those musicians related to the contest whose projection and later career have placed them in a privileged position, both nationally and internationally, deserving of such recognition.
The deadline for submission of applications begins on Wednesday, November 23, and will end on January 16, 2017. Any of the winners of the nineteen editions of the Contest will be eligible for the Extraordinary XX Anniversary Among Strings and Metals awards. Different modalities.
The nominations that may be eligible for the prize may be presented in different ways: by the Organization of the Contest that is composed of technicians from the two organizing entities, the Youth Department and the Music Conservatory of Cartagena;
By those federated musical entities or societies of our city that are duly recognized;
Or by a group of citizens who, in a minimum of 5 duly accredited with a photocopy of the DNI, support the submission of an application.
In order for a proposal to be admitted by the Organization, it must include, along with the same, a candidate's musician's curriculum, a photograph of the candidate and a document that shows the approval of the candidate to be an aspirant.
It is advisable to provide as much graphic material (photos, press clippings, etc.) to justify and to prove the reasons for which the candidate in question is proposed.

Applications may be submitted directly at the Youth Council, Paseo Alfonso XIII, Nº 51, 30203 Cartagena, on working days from 8.30 to 14.00 hrs, or by certified mail.
Applications submitted through the Post Office shall be made in an open envelope, so that the name of the Office and the date of presentation are clearly stated in the head of the printed bulletin.
They may also be submitted electronically by e-mail at the address entrecuerdasymetales@ayto-cartagena.es, where in the matter comes reflected: "Proposal for the Extraordinary XX Anniversary Award."
All proposals received and that meet the requirements to be admitted, will be published during the second half of January 2017 on the contest website.

VALUATION OF PROPOSALS
In order to evaluate the applications received and the decision to grant this award, a jury chosen by the Organization, chaired by the Councilor for Youth of the City of Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, and by the Director of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena or person in which they delegate, composed by professionals of recognized prestige in the musical field of the city of Cartagena, being made public the name of its components in the page web of the contest.
Once the Jury is constituted, it will meet in February to assess and verify the data and merits under which a resolution must be made.
Of all the proposals received must determine three of them that will pass to the final;
Once the three finalist nominations have been determined, the Jury will issue its final decision, choosing as one of the three candidates selected as finalists.
The decision of the jury will be final, and will consist of an allegorical award of the XX Anniversary of Between Strings and Metals, to be awarded in the Closing Ceremony of the Contest that will take place in the "El Batel" Auditorium (Paseo Alfonso XII, N, Cartagena), on May 12, 2017.
