"This is a unique proposal as there are no themed hotels in the Region yet, and none of them are based on the historical themes of the Spanish theme hotels", defends the Graduate in Business Administration and Management
The final degree in Business Administration and Management of the student of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT) María José Cañavate García proposes the creation of a thematic hotel in Cartagena based on Carthaginians and Romans.
It would be located in the Solar de las Siervas de Jesús, at the intersection between Carlos III and Ángel Bruna streets, in a place that was shuffled a few years ago for the construction of a hotel because of its proximity to the center and easy access from the highway .
The hotel, with four stars and a hundred rooms, would have as a differential the theme of Carthaginians and Romans in their rooms, rooms and services, including restaurant menus and entertainment services for guests.
"It is a unique proposal as there are no themed hotels in the Region of Murcia and the Spanish theme hotels none of them is based on a historical theme.
It would bring together cultural and family tourism and, above all, diversify and seasonalise Cartagena's tourism offer, "explained Roberto Cañavate Bernal and Juan Carlos García Ródenas.
"Data on the economic situation of the hotel sector in the Region of Murcia and the city of Cartagena indicate that these sectors are on the rise, both in terms of number of clients and number of overnight stays in hotel establishments.
In addition, thematic hotels are an expanding sector, and there are already several hotels of this type in Spain, some as close as the toy hotel in Ibi ", comments Roberto Cañavate.
"The tourism industry in the Region of Murcia in general and in the municipality of Cartagena in particular is becoming more important every day.
The economic indicators linked to the tourism sector have steadily improved in recent years, with the contribution of the tourism sector to the GDP of the regional economy already exceeding 10%, "says Juan Carlos Bernal.
"However, the figures compared with those at the national level show that there is still room for improvement.
And there diversification is a primary strategy, "he adds.
"The family tourism is a segment still very little exploited to the city of Cartagena, in which the cultural tourism predominates", maintains the author of the work.
"The City of Cartagena is already trying to attract family tourism to the city, as shown by the recent creation of the Seal of Family Tourism," said its directors.
