One of the most anticipated days of the Cartagena Jazz Festival, is that on Saturday November 19 will be the turn to be joined on the stage of New Circus Theater pianist Jacky Terrason and the American singer Cecile McLorin Salvant.

To this day, there are three free concerts: in the square of the Icue A quarter of a dozen band, in Cafeteria Mister Witt Curro García Group & Enrique Oliver and in the hall of New Circus Theater, to the conclusion of the concert of Terrason and McLorin, Baboon Blues County.

He studied classical piano.

Influenced by the jazz he has been listening to and by some sponsorships he continued his studies at Berklee College in Boston.

Thanks to his friendship with Javon Jackson, he made his first recording for the Blue Note label with the production of Betty Carter.

In a meteoric career, he won the prestigious prize for pianists "Monk Competition".

This marked a substantial change in his relations with the Blue Note house, which considerably improves the contract to the artist and from that moment considers him his "spoiled child."

His musical art impacts all listeners.

He is a master in the art of improvisation, and also possesses a special elegance and exuberance in his performances, with harmonic and melodic innovations.

His work is developed mainly in trio formation, accompanied by bass and drums.

He has collaborated with jazz greats like Betty Carter, Leon Parker, Dianne Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater or Cassandra Wilson.

Accompanying Jacky Terrason will be in Cartagena, the great Cécile McLorin Salvant.

The American has achieved in a few years what others take a lifetime to achieve.

He won the Thelonious Monk Contest before a jury made up of such exceptional artists as Al Jarreau, Diane Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling and Patti Austin.

She got her first album "Woman Child" with numerous awards, including a Grammy nomination and the acclaim of international critics who considered her album to be the best jazz album of the year.

With his second album "For One to Love" he won the Grammy in the category of Best Jazz Vocal Record.

Her voice can also be heard in the announcement of Chanel's "Chance" fragrance and HBO's "Bessie".

Jacky Terrason and Cecile MCLorin Salvant performed a few years ago at the Vitoria Jazz Festival.

There are still tickets available for the concert, which can be purchased for 18 euros at the box office of Teatro Circo.

The event will start at 9:30 p.m.

The day of Saturday will begin with music from the morning, at 12:30 in the square of Icue with A Quarter Of A Dozen Band.

In spite of being a reduced formation, they are a quartet, the reference instrumentation offers a highly solvent result.

Simple arrangements with a curious mix of voices, which brings personality to the pieces performed and, therefore, to the band.

The repertoire of the band is very varied, visiting classics ranging from traditional jazz to Balkan and klezmer music, including bolero, chachachá, bossa nova, or French chanson, among other adaptations of popular soundtracks Of the cinema of all time.

In the afternoon, at Cafeteria Mister Witt, this at 19:30 hours will be the turn of Curro Garcia Group & Enrique Oliver.

They will present their first album "Verdad Amarga" based on compositions and arrangements by Curro García.

The training counts on the participation of Joan Saldaña and Enrique Oliver two great musicians of the current scene.

When the concert of Jacky Terrason and Cecile McLorin Salvant finishes in the hall of the New Theater Circus and already with free entrance will be the Baboon Blues County.

They are consolidated as one of the most active bands in the blues scene of the Spanish Southeast, acting in the main rooms and clubs of the area.

In 2015 he participates in the Espanish blues Fest, one of the most important blues dance festivals held in Europe in Madrid.

With a repertoire based on the classics produced by legendary record labels that topped the R & B charts in the 1950s and 1960s in the United States, Baboon Blues County offers an electrifying show in which the public enjoys dance and fun.

In its direct, the use of technical and musical elements characteristic of the time, recreates a sonorous landscape easy to identify with the sound of the original recordings, without losing an apex of freshness.
