On the occasion of the celebration on 25 November of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Department of Equality has organized a series of activities with which they want to join the campaign: Paint your world of orange.
Leave your mark: put an end to violence against women and girls;
Promoted by the Secretary General of the United Nations to combat stereotypes, promote equal opportunities and combat violence against women.
The Councilor for Equality of the City of Cartagena, David Martinez has been in charge of presenting today, November 15, these activities in the Palace Hall.
The mayor has been accompanied by Julia Moreno and Belén Orta, two of the artists who will participate in this program.
David Martinez has pointed out all the educational programs and awareness campaigns in which his Department works to combat violence against women.
Among these actions has been the School of Empowerment which helps women to boost their capacities, recognize their natural strengths, detect their strengths and increase their self-esteem and their safety.
In addition, the mayor has indicated that the Department also supports and participates in initiatives related to gender violence that start from other groups and begin this afternoon.
The councilman has finalized his intervention inviting all the cartageneros to help these women, lightening their heavy wings so that they can fly again.
ACTIVITIES
As of November 24, the streets of the city will be filled with poems, including the one that inspired this year's performances, Amor me libre, by Julia Moreno, the poems of Maram al-Masri, Souls with bare feet, which treats Of brave form and with high poetic load on the scourge of the mistreatment to the women and the girls.
In addition, the Department of Equality in collaboration with the publishing company Lancelot is also working on the miniature edition of three hundred copies of this book to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
On the other hand, based on Free Amme, the artist Belén Orta will fill on November 18 Honda Street with figures of birds that express, according to Orta, freedom and reflect the hope transmitted by the poetry of Julia Moreno.
On 25 November, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, at 11:00 a.m. in San Sebastián Square, a concentration and a poetic reading will be held, with the collaboration of several groups and women's associations .
This day will also take place the urban theatrical action, Love me free, in charge of the Murga Theater.
Finally, the Consistorial Palace will illuminate the nights of 25, 26 and 27 November in violet and orange, colors in which the fight against gender violence is combined.
