The Roman Theater of Cartagena hosted this weekend a National Congress for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in which the heritage aspect of the Oral Tradition in the XXI Century was treated.
The mayor of Cartagena, José López, opened on Friday afternoon the inaugural conference, held at the Teatro Romano, which addressed popular music and was directed by Salvador Martínez García.
She was also attended by Councilor for Culture, David Martínez Noguera.
The Spanish Federation of Associations of Folklore, together with the Federation of Folkloric Associations of Murcia, intended to end the old rhetoric of seeing folklore as a thing of the past, and although it is necessary to investigate, catalog, preserve, Transmitting our inherited culture, is to move towards the future, looking towards the new technologies of information and communication, which open us an immense range of possibilities to continue working for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in a general and specific way With the patrimonial aspect related to the music and traditional dance.
The congress was organized by FEAF and the Spanish Federation in the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (Inaem, Cultural Industries, IPCE, Cipe) , And the Ministry of Culture of the Region of Murcia.
